MOBILE, Ala. ? The South Alabama women’s tennis team was selected Wednesday afternoon to compete in the 2009 ITA National Team Indoor Championships held beginning Jan. 30-Feb. 1, 2009 in Gainesville, Fla., at the Ring Tennis Complex. Match times are still yet to be determined.
The Jaguar women were seeded second out of four teams at the Gainesville site and will take on No. 3 seeded Western Michigan in the opening round. USA will then face either No. 1 seed Florida and host Florida or No. 4 seed Oklahoma State in the second round.
Along with the Gators, UCLA, Duke, Clemson, Northwestern, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, California, Stanford, Southern Cal, William & Mary, Georgia, Baylor and Miami (Fla.) will also host the first two rounds of the tournament.
The team from each of the 15 sites that wins both matches will advance to the championship rounds two weeks later (Feb. 13-16) held at the University of Wisconsin.
Fellow Sun Belt members Denver (Vanderbilt site) and Florida International (Georgia site) were also chosen to compete at the tournament on Wednesday.
