MOBILE, Ala. ? The South Alabama women’s tennis team will host its fourth straight tennis match of the season Friday afternoon when the Jaguar women welcome Sun Belt Conference foe Louisiana-Monroe. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m. at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts. Admission to the public is free.
South Alabama comes into the match versus Louisiana-Monroe after improving to 3-0 on the spring with a 4-3 victory over Georgia State last Sunday.
Despite playing short two players due to injuries, USA was able to take the doubles point and three of the four singles matches to garner the match victory.
Junior netter Michaela Babicova continues to have a strong season as she is 7-2 overall. Babicova is currently ranked 44th in the nation in singles action by the ITA.
Friday’s opponent Louisiana-Monroe enters play this weekend with a 3-2 record on the spring. ULM started out the spring with a pair of wins coming against Alcorn State and McNeese State, but dropped a 7-0 decision at Mississippi State and a 4-3 decision at Nicholls State in its next two matches. On Monday, the Warhawks bounced back with a 5-0 win at Southern.
Senior netter Giovanna Arrondo and junior Marion Lehmann lead the Warhawks in singles play. Arrondo is 6-1 this season, while Lehmann is 7-2 for ULM.
