NEW ORLEANS, La. ? University of South Alabama soccer senior Kelly Tarrant and freshman Brandi Smith were named to the All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team, as announced by the conference office Tuesday.
Tarrant, a midfielder, ended the regular season second in the SBC in assists (7) and third in assists per game (0.41). The Petersfield, England native leads the Jags in assists and serves as a team captain. Tuesday marked the second time Tarrant has received all-conference honors. She was a first-team all-conference selection her sophomore year in 2005.
Smith, a forward, finished the regular season as the SBC-leader in goals per game (0.72). She ranked second in points per game (1.56), and third in points (28) and goals (13). The Oak Leaf, Texas native leads the Jags in goals, points, shots (41), shot percentage (.317), shots on goal (27) and game-winning goals (2).
Tarrant and Smith helped lead the Jags to their ninth-consecutive SBC Tournament appearance.
