TROY, Ala. ? South Alabama women win their second team title at the Coach “O” Invitational Saturday morning. Micah Tirop won his fourth individual title of the season.
USA cross country completes its regular season with success in Troy, Ala. as the men took second place behind rival Troy, while the women took home the first place finish. Leading the men was Micah Tirop who finished the 5K course in a time of 15:11.
Antipah Sugut finished close behind in second (15:31), followed by Onesmus Too in fourth place (15:41). Will Thomas placed 12th (16:51) to close out the Jaguar men’s top 25. Joshua Mather finished 29th with a time of 18:52.
“Will Thomas and Onesmus Too both had a personal break-out race today,” said coach Tim Goldsack. “Both have improved on their times throughout the season and you can see that with their finishes today. Micah (Tirop) ran amazing and we’re proud how he’s led the team this season.”
South Alabama women were led by Maggie Chepkoech who finished third (11:40) and Natalie Dixon who placed fifth (12:03). Also placing in the top 25 were Louise Faye who finished ninth (12:17), Jobenita Davison in 12th (12:20) and Jessica Miller in 19th (12:37). Jasmine James finished 31st for the Jags (13:26) and Courtney Kieffer finished 36th (13.39). Freshman Sasha Corcoran ran unattached at finished with a time of 12:51.
“Our women ran great this weekend and they keep getting better,” said Goldsack. “We will continue to train hard to compete at an elite level at the Sun Belt Tournament.”
The Jags will compete again on Nov. 1 at the Sun Belt Tournament in Bowling Green, Ky.
