DENTON, Texas ? South Alabama women’s tennis players Adrianna Solarova, Michaela Babicova and Sylvanie Spangenberg each were selected to the all-conference teams as announced Thursday night at a pre-tournament banquet of the 2007 Sun Belt Conference Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships.
Solarova and Babicova were each selected to the singles all-SBC team on Thursday. Solarova, currently the highest ranked single’s player on the women’s side in the Sun Belt at No. 55, is 24-6 on the season and 17-4 this spring playing at the No. 1 spot for the Jags. Babicova, a sophomore, sports a team-best 27-6 overall record and a 19-4 dual match record. She has played at both the No. 1 and 2 positions for South Alabama this season.
On the doubles side, Solarova and Spangenberg were one of three teams selected to the all-conference team. The Jag duo is 14-9 on the spring playing at the No. 1 spot and finished the season a perfect 6-0 against Sun Belt competition, including wins over FIU’s team of Paula Zabala/Nikkita Fountain and MTSU’s team of Hala Sufi/Claudia Szabo, both selected to the all-SBC team.
The singles and doubles honors for Solarova marked the second straight year that the Jag junior had been selected to both teams.
USA will begin play at this year’s conference tournament on Friday when the third-seeded Jaguar women take on the winner of No. 6 Middle Tennessee/No. 11 Western Kentucky match at 3 p.m.
