MOBILE, Ala. ? Stan Cowherd, father of University of South Alabama senior guard Stephen Cowherd, passed away early Sunday morning, head coach men's basketball coach John Pelphrey announced Sunday.
“We are all deeply saddened by the sudden death of Stephen Cowherd’s father Stan,” Pelphrey said. “Stephen has been in our program for four years, we know that Stan deeply loved his son, his family and recent success of the University of South Alabama basketball program. Our thoughts and prayers and our love will be with Steve and his family during this difficult time.”
Stan Cowherd was in attendance during the Jaguars’ regular season finale against Troy Saturday night at the Mitchell Center and his son’s final home game as a Jaguar.
The wake will be held on Wednesday in Coral Springs, Fla., followed by the funeral on Thursday. The times have not been announced. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions are to be made to the South Alabama men’s basketball program in memory of Stan.
