MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama will hold its second Coaches Forum on Mon., Oct. 9, 2006 at 11:30 a.m., in the Mitchell Center, South Alabama Director of Athletics Joe Gottfried announced Tuesday. This premier event will feature NCAA Nation Champion Florida Head Basketball Coach Billy Donovan and USA Jaguars’ head coach John Pelphrey.
“This is great for our program and our fans to have a coach who won the national championship to come and speak at South Alabama,” Gottfried said.
The Coaches Forum is a unique event where fans can get an upfront and personal overview of the upcoming season and get a chance to meet the NCAA National Champion Head Coach. The inaugural Coaches Forum was in 2004 and featured Pelphrey, Mark Gottfried, head coach at Alabama, along with Paul Hewitt, head coach at Georgia Tech and Jeff Lebo, head coach at Auburn.
“The purpose of the Coaches Forum is to bring some attention and create excitement about the start of the basketball season,” Pelphrey said. “This year we are very fortunate to have the coach from the national champion Florida Gators here as our guest. It is not every day that you get to spend time with a national champion coach and who has the potential to win it again.”
This event is exclusively for USA Fast Break Club (formerly Jaguar Athletic Club) members and season ticket holders. Individuals who are not members can attend the meeting by joining the Fast Break Club and purchasing season tickets. Season ticket packages start as low as $85 for thirteen (13) home games.
