MOBILE Ala. - The 75th-ranked South Alabama women's tennis team (7-4, 1-0 SBC) will open a nine-match homestand Wedesday when the Jags take on 18th-rated Virginia Commonwealth at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts. Doubles action is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

USA enters the match fresh off a 5-2 victory over in-state and SBC foe Troy. The Jaguar women swept the doubles point versus the No. 71 Lady Trojans and picked up four wins in singles competition.

VCU, ranked No. 18 by the latest ITA poll, is currently sporting a 16-0 record, including wins over five ranked opponents, highlighted by a 6-1 victory at then ranked No. 17 Clemson. The Lady Rams also have four singles players nationally ranked by the ITA, No. 44 Marianna Yuferova, No. 80 Olga Borisova, No. 107 Tatsiana Uvarova and No. 125 Viktoria Konstantinova. The doubles duo of Borisova and Yuferova are also ranked 18th in the nation.

South Alabama will continue its homestand Thursday when it takes on Indiana State in Mobile. The Sycamores enter play this week with a 6-0 record. ISU faced Spring Hill on Monday and Troy on Tuesday.
