NO. 29 JAGUAR WOMEN DROP 6-1 DECISION TO NO. 35 OLE MISS ON SUNDAY Box Score CONTACT: Kevin Beasley OXFORD, Miss. - The 29th ranked University of South Alabama women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 35 Ole Miss Sunday afternoon at the Gillom Sports Center. The host Rebels (6-0) came out and grabbed the early advantage and momentum when they captured all three doubles matches. The Rebel duo of Nika Koukhartchouk and Kseniia Tokarieva easily defeated USA's (5-2) Adrianna Solarova and Klara Jarova, 8-1 and Ole Miss' Mimi Renaudin and Preethi Subramanian sealed the point with a 8-6 win at the No. 3 spot over Jelena Krivacevic and Dijana Stanic. The 41st ranked tandem of Virginia Tomatis/ Ilona Somers (OM) completed the sweep when they outlasted South Alabama's team of Sylvanie Spanenberg and Maria Zivcicova, 9-8 (3) a the No. 1 position. Leading 1-0 heading into the singles portion of the match, Ole Miss' Tomatis and Tokarieva picked up straight set victories over Lady Jags Krivacevics (6-3, 6-1) and Michaela Babicova (6-1, 6-2) at the Nos. 1 and 3 positions, respectively, to go up 3-0 in the match. USA's Solarova put the Jaguars on the board with a two-set victory of her won. She was able to capture a hard fought win 7-6 (3) over Koukhartchouk (OM) in the first set and then earned the point with a 6-0 victory in the second set. Somers of Ole Miss however clinched the match with a straight set victory of her own, defeating Zivcicova, 6-3, 6-2. At the No. 5 spot, Subramanian gave the Lady Rebels another point with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over USA's Spanenberg. In the final singles match of the day, Renaudin captured a three set victory (6-7, 6-4, 1-0 (6)) over Stanic to give the Jaguar her first loss of the spring and snap an eight match win streak. South Alabama will continue on the road when they face Louisville (March 3) and Minnesota (March 4) in Louisville, Ky.
