TENNIS PICKS UP 5-2 VICTORY OVER SUN BELT FOE TROY

- The 66th-ranked South Alabama women's tennis team (7-4,
1-0 SBC) picked up a 5-2 victory over Sun Belt foe Troy, ranked
No. 71 by the ITA, on Monday at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
USA came out
and set the tone with a dominant performance in the doubles portion
of the match. The teams of Maria Zivcicova/Sylvanie Spanenberg and
Dijana Stanic/Jelena Krivacevics each picked up 8-2 victories at
the Nos. 2 and 3 positions. Adrianna Solarova and Klara Jarova completed
the Jaguar sweep with an 8-5 win over Claudia Strauss and Tsitsi
Masviba (Troy) at the No. 1 spot.
In singles action,
Solarova, Michaela Babicova, Jarova and Spanenberg all earned victories
for USA to clinch the match. Solarova defeated Rawia Elsisi (TU)
in three sets (6-4, 4-6, 6-0) at the No. 1 position, while the other
three Jag women also captured three set victories at the Nos. 4,
5 and 6 spots.
South Alabama
will next return home for a nine-match home stand. The Jags will
begin the home stretch when they take on No. 18 Virginia Commonwealth
on Wednesday (March 15) at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis
Courts.
