NO. 9 HARVARD GIVES LADY JAGS FIRST LOSS OF
SPRING WITH 5-2 VICTORY

- The University of No. 28 South Alabama women's tennis team (3-1)
suffered its first loss Saturday morning when the Lady Jags dropped
a 5-2 decision to ninth-ranked Harvard at the Murr Tennis Center.

were also playing without their top two singles players due to illness.
The Crimson
(5-1) came out and opened the match by sweeping the doubles portion.
At the No. 2 position, Eva Wang/Stephanie Schnitter (HU) picked
up an 8-6 decision over USA's Adrianna Solarova/Klara Jarova. Harvard
sealed the point when No. 6 Elsa O’Riain/Melissa Anderson
defeated Sylvanie Spangenberg/Maria Zivcicova (USA), 8-6. Preethi
Mukundan and Cindy Chu of Harvard completed the sweep with an 8-4
victory over South Alabama's Dijana Stanic and Jelena
Krivacevic.
Leading 1-0
heading into the singles portion, Stephanie Schnitter put HU up
2-0 in the match with a straight set victory over Jarova, 6-1 and
6-1 at the five spot. Spanenberg finally got the Jags on the board
with two set victory of her own over Chu, 6-2 and 6-3. Wang defeated
USA's Krivacevic, 6-2, 6-1, at the No. 1 spot to put Harvard one
point away from sealing the victory. South Alabama's Stanic cut
the deficit to 3-2 with a tough 7-5, 6-2 win over Mukundan before
Beier Ko gave the host Crimson the match victory with a 7-5, 6-1
victory over Solarova at the No. 2 position.
