NEW ORLEANS ? The University of South Alabama women’s volleyball will close out its three-match road swing Monday night when the Jags take on West Division leader New Orleans at 7 p.m. at the Human Performance Center.

LAST TIME OUT:  The South Alabama women’s volleyball team was swept by Louisiana-Lafayette 3-0 (23-30, 30-32, 17-30) Saturday afternoon in Sun Belt Conference action at Earl K. Long Gym.  The loss for USA was its ninth straight.  Lauren Robbins led South Alabama with a match-high 12 kills, while Kim Rodgers and Rachel Mauti finished with 11 and 10 kills, respectively for Louisiana-Lafayette.  On the defensive side of the net, Jade Nuss led three Jags in double figures with 14 digs, while Jennifer Johnson had two solo blocks and two block assists for USA.

Jenna Swilley and Robbins continue to lead the club offensively; both averaging over three kills a game.  Swilley comes in at 3.20, while Robbins enters the match at 3.02 kills per game.  On the defensive side of the net, Summer Pilgrim paces the club with 64 block assists and 1.11 blocks per game.

SCOUTING THE LADY PRIVATEERS:  New Orleans enters the contest against USA with a 15-5 overall record on the season.  After dropping their first two Sun Belt matches versus FIU and FAU, the Lady Privateers have bounced back to win their last four, including a 3-0 win Saturday night versus Troy.  With the win against the Trojans, UNO improved to 4-2 in the conference and moved into a first-place tie with Arkansas State in the West Division.  After ASU’s loss on Sunday to Middle Tennessee, New Orleans now sits alone atop the division.  Sophomore outside hitter Dobirlla Kovacevic leads the club with 4.06 kills per game.  Hillary Carr (2.99) and Lindsey Boler (2.93) are also right at the three kills a game mark.  Jayne Ducan paces the club on the defensive side with 5.17 digs per game.

NEW ORLEANS VERSUS THE LADY JAGS: The meeting between South Alabama and New Orleans Monday night will be the 38th in the all-time series that dates back to 1977.  UNO holds a commanding 33-4 advantage in the series and the last time the Lady Jags were able to defeat the Privateers came back in the 2001 season, when USA won 3-1 (27-30, 30-28, 30-21, 30-25) in New Orleans.  The two clubs did not meet last season due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina.  Because of the hurricane, UNO was forced to cancel its season.

NEXT UP FOR THE LADY JAGS:  South Alabama will return home to face Arkansas-Little Rock on Friday night at 5 p.m. and then take on Arkansas State Saturday at 7 p.m.
