WOMEN'S TENNIS TO BEGIN FALL SEASON AT OLE MISS

OXFORD,
Miss. – The
South Alabama women's tennis team will begin the 2005 fall portion
of its schedule Friday when the Jags compete at the Ole Miss Fall
Classic. The three-day tournament will include individual flights
of singles and doubles. Tournament action begins at 8 a.m. Friday
with doubles, followed by singles competition. The tournament continues
on Saturday with an 8 a.m. start and concludes Sunday, beginning
at 8 a.m.
Admission to
the tournament is free, and all matches will be played at the Palmer/Salloum
Tennis Center. Results can be accessed at http://olemisssports.collegesports.com.
The field in
Oxford includes SEC opponents Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Arkansas,
Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Monroe, Southern Mississippi, Tennessee
Tech, Troy and Samford.
The Jaguar women
return three letterwinners from last season's NCAA squad, led by
junior Dijana Stanic. Stanic led the team in singles victories a
season ago with 29 total. Set to join the Jags this upcoming season
are Jelena Krivacevics (Szombathely, Hungary) and Marion Lehmann
(Besancon, France).
After the Lady
Rebel tournament, USA will close out the fall season at the Robeta
Allison Classic in Tuscaloosa on Oct. 7-9.
