JAGUAR
MEN'S TENNIS TO BEGIN FALL SEASON AT CRIMSON TIDE FALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

TUSCALOOSA,
Ala. – The
Jaguar men's tennis team will begin the 2005 fall portion of its
schedule Friday when they begin competition at the Crimson Tide
Fall Championships held at the Alabama Varsity Tennis Complex.
The three-day
competition will conclude on Sunday.
The tournament
field includes individuals and doubles teams from Georgia Tech,
Florida State Virginia, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Arizona, and
many more.
Singles action
is slated to begin on Friday at 8:30 a.m. with Dias Doskaraev taking
on Marko Rajivec of Georgia Tech in the Singles A - East Draw. The
doubles team of Doskaravev - Sam Huffman will also compete in the
Men's Open "A" Draw.
Jag newcomer
Filip Kricka will take on the "C" Draw's No. 4 seed, Dominic
Pagon (William & Mary), while Huffman will face Eric Stephens
of Samford at 10:30 a.m.
In one-on-one
doubles "A" action, Mark Gellard will take on No. 1 seeded
Jose-Carlos Pinto (Miss. State) at 3:30 p.m., and Kricka will take
on Hank Grant (Samford), who is seeded No. 4 in the "B"
Draw of the one-on-one doubles competition.
The rest of
the Jags fall schedule includes tournaments at the Southern Intercollegiate
(Sept. 30-Oct. 2) in Athens, Ga., at the Georgia Tech Invitational
(Oct. 7-9) in Atlanta, Ga., and at the Cajun Invite (Oct. 21-23)
in Lafayette, La.
