NEW
ORLEANS – In continuing with its 30th anniversary
celebration, the Sun Belt Conference released its All-Time women’s
soccer team, Tuesday. The team is made up of 30 players from eight
schools within the conference and represented by a combination of
seven current and former Jaguar players. Making the team for the
Jaguars is current player Rebecca Kahn and former players Amber
Angermeirer, Yolanda Janiga, Keri Osborne, Cindy Rainville, Kyla
Rogers, and Kathy Stinmetz.
"Everyone
of the players that has been named to the SBC All-Time Team is very
deserving," said Jaguar head coach Mike Varga. "They all
have had great careers here at South Alabama and it was a pleasure
to coach each one of them. Looking at the list they were not only
good soccer players, but exceptional student-athletes. Each one
of them continues to keep in touch with the program."
Kahn, a senior
on this year’s squad, garnered Sun Belt All-Tournament Team
honors in 2002 along with being named second-team all-Sun Belt for
the past two seasons. Angermeirer joined Kahn on the 2002 All-Tournament
team and was named first-team All-SBC in 2003 and 2004 to go along
with her second-team selection in ’02. Angermeirer is the
school leader in saves with 305.
Rainville holds
numerous records at USA, including goals in a career (45), assists
in a career (30), and points in a career (120). She was named first-team
All-Sun Belt Conference in 2000 and 2001 and was also a member of
the All-Tournament team in 2000. Rainville, now an assistant coach
at Southeastern Louisiana will be back on the sidelines this weekend
(8/26-8/28 at the KELME Port City Classic, at The Cage.
Janiga, Osborne,
Rogers, and Stinmetz were all part of South Alabama’s 2000
team, the inaugural year for the Jags in the Sun Belt Conference.
Osborne and Stinmetz were selected second-team All-Sun Belt in 2002
and Janiga ranks 10th in the annals on the career goals list with
13 scores. Rogers holds the career record for saves and shutouts
for the Jaguars. She was also named second-team All-Sun Belt and
a member of the All-Tournament team in 2002.
South Alabama
and Western Kentucky each had seven players on the All-Time women’s
soccer team, more than any other school.
