QUOTED
Head Coach Ben Hannan
  • On the team's performance:
    • "I am very happy and proud of the team and how they showed up this week. Even when we weren't getting the results we wanted in our first few events of the spring, they have been gaining and trending in the right direction. Most importantly, the guys have been showing up every day and putting in the work, so you knew good golf was coming at some point. We got contributions from everyone this week, which is what we need to do to be successful. When Kansas State made a run toward the end, the guys stepped up and were clutch, making multiple birdies in the final stretch of holes to seal the win. There is a lot to build on from the week, and that is where we will put our focus as we continue to move toward the postseason."
  • On Thyr's win:
    • "Hugo had another very strong performance and won in an impressive fashion. He was in complete control of his game both physically and mentally and took advantage of a ton of quality golf shots throughout the week. Winning is difficult out here, but winning back-to-back is really hard, which speaks to the level of golf Hugo is playing. He has been putting in a ton of work on his game, so it's great to see it pay off for him here at home with the win!"

TEE SHOTS
  • The Jags' victory marked the team's best finish of the season, beating their previous second-place landing at the Argent Financial Classic (Sept. 7-9, 2025).
  • South Alabama's 54-hole total of 826 marked a season-best for the Jaguars, beating their previous best of 833 at the Trinity Forest Invitational (Oct. 5-7, 2025).
  • Thyr is the first Jag to win a tournament this season, now boasting a 69.56 stroke average. His 65 in the first round rivaled his season-low 18, tying five-under in the second round of the Hal Williams Collegiate (Feb. 16-17). The senior earned the third tournament victory of his career.
  • Three Jaguars shot season-low rounds, including Davidov (67), Haygood (70) and Crowder (70). Svendsen tied his season low, shooting 68 in the second round.
