South Alabama to Compete in Eighteen Team, Eight Conference Field at Linger Longer Invitational

EATONTON, Ga. - South Alabama men's golf takes a trip to Georgia to compete in the Linger Longer Invitational Friday-Sunday, co-hosted by Kennesaw State and Mercer.

South Alabama will join an 18-total team field represented by nine different conferences including the SEC, Big Ten, Sun Belt, ACC, AAC, C-USA, Southern Conference, ASUN, and CAA. It is the largest field this year the Jaguars will compete in.

The 2023 individual medalist is two-time PGA Tour winner Nick Dunlap, who fired a 10-under par 206 at the 2023 Linger Longer Invitational, and led Alabama to the team victory. Georgia is the reigning 2025 team champion when they carded a 834 team score (-30).


TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

Event (host): Linger Longer Invitational (Kennesaw State & Mercer)
Dates:  March 20-22 (Friday-Sunday)
Format: 18 holes each day, stroke play
Start times: 8:30 a.m. (CDT) split-tee start each day
Course: Great Waters Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee (Par 72, 7,436 yds)

TEE SHOTS
  • The Jaguars fired a historic fall ranking at No. 54 after placing top-5 in all four tournaments.
  • South Alabama earned a sixth place finish at the 2025 Linger Longer Invitational (+2), and are looking to get back after the fall season performance.
  • Senior Hugo Thyr has been characteristically consistent for the Jaguars throughout the season, and has carded five top-20 finishes in six total tournaments. Three of which finished T6. The two-time Sun Belt Conference champion is looking for a strong string of tournaments to finish his senior season.
  • Josh Hill is looking to return to his style of play after recording one of the most red hot fall slates in the country, which included two individual top-10 finishes including a T3 finish at the Argent Financial Classic (-12).
