Jaguars to Host Bobcats for Mardi Gras at the Mitch

MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama women's basketball (9-14, 2-10) will host Texas State (10-13, 6-6) at 7 p.m. CST on Thursday at the Mitchell Center in Mobile, Ala. A Jaguar win would give the program its first 10-win season in five years.

SERIES HISTORY:
The Jaguars are 5-15 against the Bobcats, their last meeting a 63-56 Jaguar loss on Feb. 28, 2025, at the Mitchell Center.

SCOUTING THE JAGS:
  • South Alabama hosts the Bobcats after a 73-67 loss to Western Michigan on Saturday. Cordasia Harris recorded a career-high five assists.
  • Tamara Ortiz led the Jaguars in rebounding on Saturday, grabbing seven. Ortiz is now one of the 15 players in the country to have led her team in rebounding as the shortest player on the roster.
  • The Jags rank third in the Sun Belt in three-point percentage defense (28.0) and fourth in three-point percentage (33.1).
  • A win over Texas State would end the Jaguars' two-game losing streak against the Bobcats.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS:
  • The Bobcats travel to Mobile after a 71-69 loss to NIU on Saturday.
  • Texas State's opponents are averaging 63.4 points per game, making the Bobcats third in the league in scoring defense.
  • Saniya Burks leads the Sun Belt in free-throw percentage (87.0).
  • KP Parr has had an impressive season with the Bobcats, totaling 72 assists and 37 steals.
