HARRISONBURG, Va. – South Alabama women's basketball (9-11, 2-8) is set to take on James Madison (15-8, 7-4) at noon CST on Saturday at Atlantic Union Bank Center in Harrisonburg, Va.
SERIES HISTORY:
The Jaguars are 0-3 against JMU, their last matchup a 76-62 deficit on Feb. 5, 2025, at the Mitchell Center. The Dukes would finish their season as the Sun Belt's Regular Season Champions and would fall to Belmont in the WNIT Quarterfinals.
SCOUTING THE JAGS:
- South Alabama travels to Harrisonburg after a 60-57 deficit to App State on Thursday. The three-point loss marked the fourth game within the last five in which the Jaguars have lost by five points or fewer.
- Two Jaguars recorded career-highs on Thursday – Daniela Gonzalez and Tamara Ortiz. Gonzalez scored 21 points, and Ortiz recorded six assists.
- South's backcourt continues to dominate, recording a season-high 13 steals against App State and ranking second in the Sun Belt in three-point percentage defense (26.8).
SCOUTING THE DUKES:
- JMU hosts the Jaguars after a 51-point victory over Louisiana on Thursday, 96-45.
- The Dukes have notable Sun Belt victories over Marshall (80-43, 1/15) and Georgia Southern (67-60, 1/17).
- Peyton McDaniel has performed impressively with the Dukes this season, ranking in the nation's top-30 in field-goal attempts (329), points (417), and three-point attempts (157). In addition to McDaniel, several other Dukes rank in the top-20 in other categories, including Brianna McLeod, Ashanti Barnes and Bree Robinson.
