MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama women's basketball (9-9, 2-6) is set to take on Georgia Southern (14-5, 7-2) on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Mitchell Center in Mobile, Ala. The Jaguars seek their third Sun Belt victory of the season.
SERIES HISTORY:
The Jaguars are 13-14 against the Eagles, their last matchup a 95-68 deficit on Feb. 15, 2025.
SCOUTING THE JAGS:
- The Jaguars host the Eagles after a 78-75 deficit to Georgia State. The game was the third of the last five to go into overtime, and five Jaguars scored in double-figures.
- Tamara Ortiz is on a hot streak, recording season-highs over three consecutive games. The redshirt-sophomore from Columbus, Ohio, recorded 13 points against ULM (1/10), 14 points against Coastal Carolina (1/17) and 15 points against Georgia State (1/22).
- A Jaguar victory would be the program's third league win of the season and first over the Panthers in five years (1/29/21).
SCOUTING THE EAGLES:
- Georgia Southern travels to Mobile after a 80-69 road victory over Troy on Saturday (1/22), the program's first in program history.
- The Eagles are 7-2 in Sun Belt action and stand at third in the league.
- The program leads the Sun Belt in field-goal percentage (44.9), fouls per game (15.1), assist/turnover ratio (1.04) and turnovers per game (13.2).
