CONWAY, S.C. – South Alabama women's basketball (9-7, 2-4) is set to face Coastal Carolina (8-10, 1-5) in a road tilt at 1 p.m. EST on Saturday at HTC Center in Conway, S.C.
SERIES HISTORY:
The Jaguars are 8-8 against the Chanticleers, their last meeting a 73-58 deficit on Jan. 4, 2025, at the Mitchell Center in Mobile, Ala.
SCOUTING THE JAGS:
- South Alabama travels to Conway after a 73-67 victory over ULM on Saturday (1/10). Cordasia Harris recorded her ninth double-double of the season and grabbed 15 rebounds, the highest by an individual since the 2020-21 season.
- Harris currently ranks sixth in the nation in offensive rebounds per game (4.3) and 10th in double-doubles (9). She also ranks in the top-40 in blocks, rebounds, field-goal percentage, rebounds per game and blocks per game.
- The Jaguars lead the Sun Belt in three-point percentage (36.0) and rank fourth in the league in three-point percentage defense (26.9).
- Tamara Ortiz is coming off an impressive performance last week, recording a career-high five assists and season-highs in points (13), three-pointers (3) and minutes (32).
- Against ULM on Saturday, South Alabama recorded 10 three-pointers, a high since UAB (15, 11/8/25).
SCOUTING THE CHANTICLEERS:
- Coastal Carolina hosts the Jaguars after a six-point deficit at Marshall on Saturday (1/10), 80-74.
- Similar to South Alabama, the Chanticleers also have success from downtown, leading the Sun Belt in three-point percentage defense (26.2). They also rank second in three-point percentage (35.9) and rank 17th in the nation in three-pointers per game (9.2).
- Kristin Williams has been successful from beyond the arc this season, leading the nation in three-pointers per game (3.33) and ranking second in three-pointers (60). Similarly, Tessa Grady ranks 15th nationally in three-point attempts (141), also leading the league.
