NOTES
Â
– South Alabama quarterback
Bishop Davenport is operating at an extremely efficient level right now. The redshirt junior ranks 10th in the nation in both completion percentage (.763) and passing efficiency (198.8).
Â
– Safeties
Ty Goodwill and
Wesley Miller are proving to be a dynamic duo in the defensive backfield for the Jaguars. Goodwill currently leads the nation in pass breakups with five, while Miller intercepted a pass in week one, tying him for 11th in the nation in interceptions.
Â
– Wide receiver
Devin Voisin ranks second in the nation with three touchdown catches through two weeks of football. Voisin scored just one touchdown in 2023 and 2024 combined due to a season-ending injury and rehab.
Â
– Against Tulane, running back
Kentrel Bullock recorded the sixth, 100-yard rushing game of his career. It was also his third-straight game hitting the century mark, dating back to the IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl victory in 2024.
Â
– South Alabama's defense has recovered four fumbles through two games this season. The Jags jumped on three loose balls in the season-opener, then forced one against Tulane right as the Green Wave were about to score their first points of the game.

QUOTES
Â
"I want to play every great team we can play. We're a 15-year program. The way you gain respect and notoriety is to play the very best teams you can play, and beat them. And if you can't beat them, you come close and you get better until you can beat them. Â But that's the way you earn respect and put yourself on the map. You go play the very best you can play."
Â
-Head Coach
Major Applewhite on the magnitude of Saturday's game against Auburn
Â
"I think we're starting to mature and become who we need to be. It's good to fight, but we want to win those football games. We've got to win those football games if we want to go where we want to go as a program."
Â
-Defensive Coordinator
Will Windham on his takeaways from the Tulane game
Â
"There's a lot of positives. Our offensive line did a good job against the gap schemes. I think our running backs ran hard. Our receivers did a good job on the perimeter, and Bishop did a good job on some of the different things we didn't show in the first week."
Â
-Offensive Coordinator Paul Petrino on the offense's performance against Tulane
Â
ABOUT AUBURN
Â
The Tigers enter Saturday's matchup ranked No. 24 in the nation after a 2-0 start to the season. Auburn took down Baylor in its season opener before beating Ball State, 42-3, last weekend at home. Jackson Arnold quarterbacks the Tigers and has thrown for 359 yards and three touchdowns in two games. He has also rushed for 142 yards and a pair of scores. Jeremiah Cobb leads the rushing attack with 195 yards and three scores on the season. Defensively, Auburn is led by Keyron Crawford who has 11 tackles and three sacks to his credit. The Tigers are coached by Hugh Freeze, who is in his third season with the program. He owns a record of 13-14 at Auburn.
Â
SERIES HISTORY
Â
Saturday's game between the Jaguars and Tigers carries extra significance for the state of Alabama as South Alabama will play Auburn for the first time in the program's 17-year history. Other than its annual Iron Bowl matchup against Alabama, the only other in-state FBS opponent Auburn has faced is UAB in 1996. The Tigers defeated Jacksonville State in 2015, but the Gamecocks competed at the FCS level at the time.
