Preview: Matches 6-7 | Jaguar Invitational presented by Hampton by Hilton at Providence Park

JAG NOTES
•    South Alabama (2-3) enters the tournament after going 2-1 at the Panther Invitational hosted by Milwaukee over the weekend
•    The Jags picked up wins over Central Michigan and the tournament host Panthers, while falling to Iowa State
•    Offensively, the Jags are led by Sarah Gooch who is averaging 3.11 kills per set
•    Cambria Gaier is also averaging 2.44 kps and the freshman leads South with 10 aces and ranks fifth in the Sun Belt as she is averaging 0.56 aces per set
•    On the defensive side of the net, South leads the Sun Belt and is tied for 33rd nationally with 2.72 blocks per set 
•    Redshirt freshman Alexa Strandberg has been outstanding at the net through the first two weeks of the season 
•    The Copley, Ohio, native has 25 total blocks this fall, including nine solo blocks, and leads the Sun Belt with 1.39 per set
•    She was named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after her play at the Panther Invitational
•    Senior libero Briana Wilson is averaging 4.44 digs per set, which ranks fourth in the league

•    South Alabama holds a 24-19 advantage in the all-time series and fell to the Lions in four sets last fall in Hammond, which was the first meeting between the two clubs since 2018
•    The Jags hold a 12-10 advantage in series meetings in Mobile, and have won six-straight at Jag Gym dating back to the 2006 season, including five-straight 3-0 decisions
•    The series dates back to the 1978 season

A QUICK LOOK AT 
•    Southeastern Louisiana (5-0) enters the Jaguar tournament with an unblemished record after defeating both Little Rock and Central Arkansas in four sets over the weekend at the Central Arkansas Invitational
•    The Lions are led offensively by Kyra McKelvey who is averaging nearly four kills a set (3.95) and holds a .406 attack percentage
•    India Bennett (2.53) and Alexis Logarbo (2.44) are also threats on the offensive side of the net
•    Bennett and Logarbo are also strong defensively at the net, averaging 2.16 bps, which leads the NCAA, and 1.28 bps, respectively
•    The Lions have already faced one Sun Belt opponent, defeating ULM in straight sets in its season opener

•    The meeting will mark the 36th time the two clubs have met in the series all-time series

•    The Jaguars are just 5-11 in the series in meetings on their home court
•    South Alabama snapped a 12-match series win streak by Tulane with a 3-0 win during the 2023 season
•    The Green Wave has won 22 of the last 24 meetings in the series dating back to the 1984 season??

A QUICK LOOK AT THE GREEN WAVE
•    Tulane (4-2) dropped its first two matches during the opening weekend of play, losing both in five sets, but since the Green Wave have won four straight, including all three last weekend at the Green Wave Classic
•    The duo of Avery Burks (4.12 kps) and Lauryn Mack (3.12 kps) have provided most of the offense through the first two weeks of the 2025 campaign
•    As a team, Tulane has been solid on the defensive side of the net, averaging 16.50 digs per set and 2.31 blocks
•    Middle blockers Maddy McLin and Jordan White led the club individually as both are averaging 1.10 blocks per set
