Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Four Singles Wins Lift Jags to 4-1 Victory Over Cajuns

LAFAYETTE, La. – With the match shortened to only singles play due to forecasted bad weather Saturday afternoon, South Alabama Men's Tennis took down Louisiana, 4-1, for its third win in the last four matches.

The victory improved the Jaguars' record to 7-11 overall with a 3-2 mark in Sun Belt Conference play.

"It was quite a battle today," said South Alabama head coach Nick Brochu. "We were expecting nothing less. Louisiana and South is always a big rivalry. I thought we did a good job of jumping on them early. Juan did a good job taking care of business, then we took a couple of first sets and the momentum starting shifting. Victor played well in a very close match. The Jags came up big."

Juan Accossatto started the scoring for the Jags by making quick work of Samuel Kyjaci in a convincing 6-2, 6-0 victory. He was followed by Harold van Raemdonck, who also socred a straight-sets victory in 7-6, 6-1 fashion.

With a 2-0 lead and only needing two points to win, South turned to the services of Braden Hannig and true freshman Victor Frumholz to close the match. Hannig knocked off William Jade 6-3, 7-5 for the team's third victory in straight sets. Victor Frumholz then closed the match for USA by defeating Leonard Tramolay in three sets by a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

South Alabama faces a quick turnaround against Southern Miss on Saturday, April 6. The Jags and Golden Eagles will open their match at 10 a.m. CT.
