MOBILE, Ala. - Hugo Thyr, 2024-25 Second Team All-Sun Belt selection, has been designated as an individual competitor to the NCAA Tallahassee Regional, hosted by Florida State.
Averaging 71.53 strokes per round, Thyr finished with the second best average in South Alabama history, just behind Jaguar great Gareth Maybin in 2003-04. He will compete alongside four other individuals and 14 teams.

Thyr will be joined by fellow Sun Belt athlete Malan Potgieter from Louisiana, NaShawn Tyson from Florida Atlantic, Niilo Maki-Petaja from Louisiana Tech (who competed with Thyr at the Baton Rouge Regional in 2024), and Gaspar Glaudas from Stetson, newly crowned ASUN Conference Individual Champion.
The team field is seeded: 1. Ole Miss, 2. Florida State ,3. San Diego State [Mountain West Conference], 4. Georgia, 5. Louisville, 6. Northwestern, 7. Notre Dame, 8. New Mexico , 9. Southern California, 10. Michigan State , 11. Furman, 12. Augusta [Southland Conference], 13. Davidson [Atlantic 10 Conference], 14. Florida A&M [Southwestern Athletic Conference]
Thyr participated in the 2023 NCAA Auburn Regional, finishing T-23 on a five-over performance, and in the 2024 Baton Rouge Regional, where he tied for 58th. The third regional appearance by Thyr, it also marks the 20th individual regional appearance by a Jaguar.
Regionals begin Monday, May 12 and run through Wednesday, May 14.

On Thyr's selection and view of the course: Qualifying and being selected to the NCAA Regional Championship is a testament to the success and consistency Hugo has had throughout this season.
