NEW ORLEANS, La. -Â The Sun Belt Conference announces the 2024-25 men's golf conference awards, with junior
Hugo Thyr earning his third all-conference title in as many years.
Averaging 71.53 strokes per round, Thyr finished with the second best average in South Alabama history, just behind Jaguar great Gareth Maybin in 2003-04.Â
Thyr finished the season with three top-10 finishes, and four top-20 finishes, including tying for seventh at the Git-R-Done Invitational, then again at the Cullan Brown Invitational. In the spring, Thyr led the Jaguars to set the program record for lowest round, and lowest tournament total in program history, winning the individual title at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. Thyr's first round score of 64 tied the program record for lowest round for an individual, and his 197 total set the record for best individual tournament score in program history.Â
Thyr was named first team All-Sun Belt in 2023 and 2024, after winning back-to-back individual titles.
Thyr was also awarded the 2024-25 South Alabama Male Student-Athlete of the Year at the 2025 Pete Tolbert Night of Champions.
