JAG NOTES
•    South Alabama (13-10, 8-4 SBC) enters the SBC series versus Arkansas State after being swept at home by Sun Belt Conference East Division leader James Madison, falling in four sets in the opener and then in five in the finale 
•    The sweep marked the first time since 2020, when the Sun Belt went to series play, that South had been swept in a home series (vs. Coastal Carolina - 10/15-16/20, 0-3), and the first time under head coach Jesse Ortiz
•    The Jaguars are tied with the Red Wolves for the West Division lead as both are 8-2 against divisional foes this fall
•    Following Saturday's series finale, South Alabama will honor its five seniors: Anna Loberg, Maradith O'Gorman, Emily Ready, Rachel Rossman and Briana Wilson
•    Cambria Gaier leads South Alabama's offense with 3.27 kills per set and 3.93 points per set
•    The freshman ranks eighth in the SBC in points and just outside the Top 10 in kill
•    Gaier has led the club offense seven of her last eight matches, and the Caledonia, Mich., native leads South with 36 aces and is tied for fourth in the Sun Belt with 0.40 aces per set
•    In SBC play, Gaier is averaging 3.58 kills per set, which is sixth most, and 4.21 points per set, which ranks fourth
•    Loberg has been playing some of her best ball as of late as she has been named the setter of the week two of the last three weeks
•    Her 9.29 assists per set against league foes is third-most among setters and South's .258 hitting percentage is tied with James Madison for the league lead, while the Jaguars are second in kills (13.75 per set) and lead the Sun Belt in points (18.05 per set)
•    Middle hitter Dalayla Blackwell is currently fifth in the SBC in blocks (1.22) and is an offensive threat averaging 2.12 kps and a .293 hitting percentage
•    Blackwell has been outstanding in Sun Belt in conference play with a .352 attack percentage against league foes, and the redshirt sophomore also has a SBC best 1.61 blocks per set average in conference action
•    Redshirt freshman Alexa Strandberg leads the club with 86 total blocks, while Blackwell is right behind her with 84 this fall
•    Strandberg also has 20 solo blocks, and ranks just outside the Top 10 in the conference with 0.98 per set
•    As a team, South Alabama now ranks third in the conference in the category with 2.56 per set, and is second with 2.84 blocks per set in conference matches
•    Wilson ranks third in the league in digs with 4.53 per set, and in conference play, she has been even better, raising that average to 4.63 per set, which is the most in league play

SERIES NOTES VS. ARKANSAS STATE
•    South Alabama and Arkansas State have met 45 previous times in the all-time series
•    The Red Wolves hold a 34-11 advantage in those meetings and have won 13 of the 19 in Mobile
•    Last season, ASU picked up a pair of 3-1 victories in Jonesboro, snapping a six-match win streak in the series dating back to 2019
•    South has won the last three series matches in Mobile
•    Each of the last eight matches in the series have been decided either in straight sets or four sets
•    The series dates back to the 1982 season and since the Red Wolves joined the league in 1992, the two clubs have meet at least once with the exception of the 2020 season

A QUICK LOOK AT THE RED WOLVES
•    Arkansas State (16-7, 9-3 SBC) enters series versus the Jags tied with the Jags for the SBC West Division lead
•    The Red Wolves are coming off a series sweep of Louisiana last weekend, and have now won seven of their last eight matches
•    ASU has used a balanced offensive attack this season as four players are averaging over two kills per set
•    Kaitlin Whitlock leads the team in the offensive category with 2.70 per set, while Daedrianna Cail (2.57), Devryn Lewis (2.49) and Addison Collum (2.00)
•    As a team, the Red Wolves are hitting .247, while holding opponents to a .142 hitting percentage
•    Cail's .386 attack percentage is second-best in the conference overall, and the senior middle blocker is also second in the SBC in blocks with 1.38 bps
