MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama Women's Basketball (3-1) will host Florida Atlantic (2-1) at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Mitchell Center.
SERIES HISTORY:
The Jaguars are 9-7 against the Owls, their last result a 56-59 deficit on Feb. 9, 2013, at the Mitchell Center.
SCOUTING THE JAGS:
- South Alabama enters Thursday's matchup after a dominant win over North Florida on Friday, 83-46. The victory marked the team's largest scoring margin of the season, and five players scored in double figures.
- The Jaguars currently rank sixth nationally in three-point percentage, averaging 43.2% for the season. Three players shoot above 50 percent from beyond the arc (min. five attempts).
- In just four games, South Alabama has already surpassed five of last year's game-highs, including points, field goals made, three-pointers made, rebounds and assists.
- Cordasia Harris, a graduate transfer from Alabama State, ranks nationally in blocks per game (15th, 2.75), total blocks (16th, 11) and offensive rebounds per game (20th, 4.5), also leading the Sun Belt in each category.
- Daniela Gonzalez ranks 18th nationally in three-point percentage (57.1).
SCOUTING THE OWLS:
- FAU comes to Our City after a 47-79 loss at Miami last Thursday.
- Grace Cartensen has put up impressive numbers for the Owls, averaging 14.3 points per game, 58.3 percent from the field and 55.6 percent from beyond the arc. She has also totaled three steals and two blocks.
- Among FAU's squad is senior transfer Michiyah Simmons, who played for South Alabama for three seasons. Last year, she averaged 7.46 points and 2.82 rebounds per game, also going 73.75 percent from the charity stripe.
