ROME, Ga. – South Alabama's Sun Belt Conference Tournament campaign ended Saturday, dropping the semifinal match 0-4 to the No. 1 seed Old Dominion Monarchs.
Old Dominion got the first win of the day with a 6-1 win from court number one, where the Monarch duo of Sofia Johnson and Lidiia Rasskouskaia defeated
Elysia Pool and
Tereza Dejnozkova.
The No. 1 seed Old Dominion took a 1-0 lead in the semifinal match with a 6-2 win from doubles court two, with Alexandra Viktorovich and Ulyana Romanova defeating
Nikola Novotna and
Manal Ennaciri.
Old Dominion carried their momentum into singles action, claiming three wins to clinch the semifinal win.
The Monarchs used a win from Lidiia Rasskouskaia on court four to jump to a 2-0 lead on the day, with Rasskouskaia beating
Manal Ennaciri 6-3, 6-3.
On court two, Alexandra Viktorovich defeated
Tereza Dejnozkova 6-2, 6-3 to give the Monarchs a 3-0 advantage in the match.
The top-seeded Monarchs clinched the win with a 6-3, 6-3 win on court five, with South's
Chems Doha Zeghlouli falling to Kira Matushkina.
