ROME, Ga. – The Jaguars opened postseason action on Friday with a 4-0 win, defeating the No. 5 seed Coastal Carolina to advance to the semifinals on Saturday.
South Alabama jumped to a lead in doubles action with a quick win from the duo of
Elysia Pool and
Tereza Dejnozkova on court one, beating Anna Babayan and Jesse Hollins 6-3.
The No. 4 seeded Jaguars took a 1-0 lead on the day with a 6-2 win from the pairing of
Nikola Novotna and
Manal Ennaciri, defeating Coastal's Kata Foldeak and Cecile Morin.
Attention then turned to singles, where the Jaguars claimed first sets on five of six courts.
Tereza Dejnozkova, playing from singles court two, put the Jaguars up 2-0 over the Chanticleers with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Coastal's Anna Babayan.
Chems Doha Zeghlouli put the Jags up 3-0 in the quarterfinal match with a win in straight sets over Aida Maria Mitrache, defeating the Chanticleer 6-1, 6-1.
In her first match from the number one spot,
Elysia Pool got the clincher over Coastal Carolina, defeating Nicole Abel 6-2, 6-1.
With the match clinched, the remaining courts went unfinished. On court three,
Nikola Novotna was up a set on Jesse Hollins, winning the first sets 7-5. On court four,
Manal Ennaciri was training 5-6 to Kate Foldeak in set one, while
Delien Kleinhans was up 6-2, 5-2 over Cecile Morin.
