South Alabama set to face Coastal Carolina in Sun Belt Tournament

MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama opens play at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Friday morning, taking on the No. 5 seed Coastal Carolina at 9 a.m. CT. The match will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be available.
 
After an 8-2 conference slate, the Jags enter the tournament as the No. 4 seed, receiving a trip straight to the quarterfinals. Coastal posted a 7-4 league record and defeated No. 12 Southern Miss on Thursday to advance to Friday's match.
 
South Alabama and the Chanticleers met earlier this season in Conway, with Coastal winning the match 4-3.
 
The Jaguars are 7-2 all-time against the Chanticleers of Coastal, with South winning the last six of the last seven matchups.
 
Elysia Pool leads the Jaguar squad with 16 wins this season, all from number two singles, which earned her singles first-team honors. Tereza Dejnozkova has 12 wins at the number one spot, naming her second-team singles. The doubles duo of Pool and Dejnozkova are 13-5 so far this season, all from the number one spot, earning them doubles first-team honors.
 
Should the Jags advance, they will face the winner of No. 1 Old Dominion and No. 9 Georgia State.
