HATTIESBURG, Miss. – In their final road match of the season, it was the South Alabama Jaguars who came out on top, beating Southern Miss 4-0 in Hattiesburg on Saturday.
The home team struck first in doubles, with Suhana Das and Alyssa Richter defeating
Tereza Dejnozkova and
Elysia Pool 6-4.
Delien Kleinhans and
Lara van der Merwe evened the doubles score with a 6-3 win from court three, taking down Angelina Blinova and Malannia Vashkevish.
The Jaguars took the doubles points with a tiebreaker win on court two, with the duo of
Manal Ennaciri and
Nikola Novotna winning over Hannah Chambers and Zenn Lim 7-6 (7-3).
In singles action,
Tereza Dejnozkova took the first win of the day on court one, defeating Alyssa Richter 6-4, 2-0 due to retirement from Richter.
Elysia Pool put the Jags up 3-0 with a win in straight sets over Hannah Chambers, winning 6-1, 6-1 over the Golden Eagle.
Otoha Aoki clinched the 4-0 win for the Jaguars on court five, defeating Angelina Blinova 6-3, 6-3.
With the match won, the remaining courts went unfinished. On court three, Suhana Das of Southern Miss was up a set on
Nikola Novotna, winning the first set 6-4. Novotna held a 5-4 advantage in the second set upon conclusion of the match.
On court four,
Manal Ennaciri took set one 6-3 over Zenn Lim, while the second set was tied at 1-1.
On court six, Malannia Vashkevish was up one set on
Delien Kleinhans, winning 7-5 before the match went unfinished.
