MOBILE, Ala. – The Jaguars open league play this weekend, welcoming in the Arkansas State Red Wolves for a match on Saturday at 10 a.m., at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.
South Alabama sits at 6-2 and is coming off a mid-week win over Wyoming, winning 4-3 at a neutral site court in Mississippi. Both losses for South Alabama have been on the road, falling to No. 14 Auburn and Florida Atlantic.
In the Jaguars' last match, the squad fell behind 3-1, then rallied back and won the final three matches to secure the win over the Cowgirls.
Chems Doha Zeghlouli got the match-clinching victory at singles number five with a comeback win clinch the win for the Jaguars.
Elysia Pool and
Manal Ennaciri lead the Jaguar squad with six wins each this season, with Pool's wins all from number two singles and Ennaciri going 1-0 at number three and 5-2 from number four.
The doubles duo of Pool and
Tereza Dejnozkova are 5-2 so far this season, all from the number one spot.
Arkansas State is 5-5 on the year and is coming off a 2-4 loss to Southeast Missouri last weekend.
South Alabama is 16-1 all-time against Arkansas State, with the lone loss to the Red Wolves coming in 2010.
