Jaguars defeat Stetson 4-3 for first road win

DELAND, Fla. – South Alabama women's tennis earned their first road win of the season on Friday, winning a hard-fought battle at Stetson, taking the match 4-3. Down 3-1 in singles action, South rallied and won the remaining three matches to clinch the road victory.
 
The Hatters got a quick win at number three doubles due to a retirement from the Jaguars, despite South being up 3-0. The Jaguars evened the doubles score with a win from the South duo of Nikola Novotna and Lara van der Merwe, getting a 7-5 victory over Zali Morris and Noa Cohen.
 
South took a 1-0 advantage in the match after a 7-5 win from number one singles, where the pairing of Tereza Dejnozkova and Elysia Pool defeated Cheri Darley and Alanna DiFrancesco.
 
In singles action, Stetson evened the score at 1-1 after a win from the number one singles spot, with Cheri Darley beating Tereza Dejnozkova 6-3, 6-3.
 
Stetson took a 2-1 lead over the Jaguars following a win from Noa Cohen at number five, where she beat Otoha Aoki 6-1, 6-3.
 
The Hatters extended their lead to 3-1 over the visiting Jaguars with a win from Elicia Kim at number four singles, beating Manal Ennaciri 6-4, 6-3.
 
The Jaguars started their comeback with a win from Elysia Pool, beating Alanna DiFrancesco 6-3, 6-4 to cut into the Hatter lead, 3-2.
 
Nikola Novotna evened the score at three following a 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 win over Zali Morris, her fourth win of the season.
 
Delien Kleinhans clinched the road win for the Jaguars with a comeback 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at number six, beating Magdalena Hedrzak.
