Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Jags Fall to Owls

MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama men's tennis saw its 26-match home winning streak snapped Saturday as the Jaguars fell to Florida Atlantic, 4-0 Saturday at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Courts.

The setback moved South to 3-4 overall for the season.

"We were a little off today," said South Alabama head coach Nick Brochu. "We played good today, but the excitement was not there. We didn't play bad, it's just that we need more than playing normal to beat a team like FAU. FAU didn't do anything spectacular today, but they were just more solid than us. We need to be better about coming into a match like this with more excitement."

Doubles play appeared to start well for USA as the Jags jumped out to early leads on two of three courts. FAU came fighting back, though, and earned the doubles point by winning two of three contests. Jack Clements and Braden Hannig were tied 5-5 when their doubles match was abandoned.

The Jags were in multiple competitive matches with Rostislav Halfinger, Juan Accossatto and Harold van Raemdonck each splitting the first two sets with their opponents. FAU's play on courts one, two and four would prove too much, though, as the Owls earned three singles points to clinch the team victory.

South Alabama will now take a break for a few weeks before its next match when UAB comes to town on Friday, Feb. 23. First serve against the Blazers is slated for 11 a.m. CT.
