Abryanna Cannon (.318) added seven kills and nine digs, while
Lillie Simons also had seven kills and
Dalayla Blackwell was credited with five and a team-high five total blocks – one solo, four assists.
Quotable – head coach Jesse Ortiz
- On controlling much of the match after the slow start in the first set: "I thought ULM came out pretty hard in the first set and they were getting after it. We were fortunate to pull that one out. I think we were able to get ahead of them with our serving and receiving."
- On
Sarah Gooch's performance today and this weekend: "Her progression has been amazing since she arrived here. Sarah is such a smart individual and competitor. She's becoming more and more aware of her situations and efficiency. Watching her growth has been tremendous as a coach."
- On the series next weekend with Texas State: "Texas State looks like they are the team to beat right now, and I have no problem saying that. We know it's going to be a dog fight and we will be facing a pretty good team. Their coach does a good job with them. I like where we're at and what we're doing right now. I still feel that we are going to keep getting better as the season progresses. Next weekend will be a chance for us to gauge ourselves and see where we're at as a team. We want 'Ws' so we are going to be aggressive and see where the ball lies after that."
Sophomore Outside Hitter Sarah Gooch
- On her performance: "We were just in system a lot of the match today, credit to our passers. They were dishing out great balls."
- On bouncing back and evening the league record with the weekend sweep: "It was huge for us to get the sweep this weekend. We all believe in ourselves and the coaches believe in us. Just wanted to showcase that we could put a complete match together, and show people that we are serious and ready for the rest of the season."
