BOONE, N.C. – South Alabama got behind early, and could not overcome the Mountaineer momentum, falling 96-49 in Boone.
The Mountaineers used a strong second quarter on both sides of the ball to pull away from the Jaguars, scoring 23 while only allowing four from South Alabama.
Michiyah Simmons led the Jaguars with 11 points, her second game leading the squad this season.
Kelsey Thompson joined Simmons in double figures, finishing with 10 on the day.
Zena Elias finished the afternoon with 10 rebounds, recording her fourth double digit rebounding game of the season.
Naomi Smitherman finished the day with six rebounds, a career high.
Three Mountaineers scored in double figures, with Faith Alston finishing the day with 30 points. J'Mani Ingram added 12 and Alexis Black finished with 11. The loss was the first time since Jan. 4, 2020, an opposing player scored 30 points against the Jags. Thirteen Mountaineers played in the contest with 11 scoring points.
App State finished the afternoon shooting 51% from the field, the first time an opponent shot 50% or higher against the Jags since Texas State did on Feb. 18, 2023.

- The Mountaineers had the advantage to open the game, up 12-4 after four minute of action.
- At the first timeout of the game, App State was still up 18-13.
