NEW ORLEANS, La. | Hugo Thyr and Jack Hearn earned all-conference honors announced by the Sun Belt Conference on Tuesday afternoon.

"An all-conference selection is a great honor because it is a representation of the player's overall body of work for the season and voted on by the head coaches in the league," South Alabama head coach Ben Hannan said. "There is an appreciation of respect that goes with the honor. Both guys are very deserving, and I am happy for both of them."

Thyr, the individual champion from the 2023 tournament, was named Freshman of the Year and earned Third Team All-Conference honors. He fired an 8-under (208), becoming just the seventh Jag in school history to win the individual title and the first since 2013. He shot a final round 6-under (66) – tying his season-best mark for a round.

Thyr played 26 rounds (nine rounds) and finished with a 72.7 average. (1,891 strokes), and recorded three top-10 finishes on the season and recorded six rounds under par. He finished with a tournament average of 210.11 on the season, earning a regional bid with the championship. Thyr finished tied for third at the Tempest Collegiate and tied for seventh at The Clerico. He shot under 70 five times on the season.

"Hugo had a very competitive and consistent year which of course was highlighted by winning the SBC Championship," Hannan said. "He opened his college career in August with a top-20 finish and just continued to go up from there. Winning the championship as a freshman is so impressive, especially this year when our league is extremely competitive and deep with so many good players. His season of work also was recognized with the Freshman of the Year award, another great honor because of the depth of our league especially our freshmen class. We are excited for Hugo and looking forward to his years to come as a Jag."

Hearn was named Second Team All-Conference honors after he finished tied for ninth at the Sun Belt Conference championships with an even-par (216) after firing a final round 3-under (69). In two match play events, Hearn won all three of his matches including at the conference championships. He played 26 rounds (nine events) and finished with a team-best 72.5 stroke average (1,885).

"Jack has been so solid for us this year and a guy that we could always count on to show up which is what you want and need from your senior," Hannan said. "He ended the year finishing inside the top 10 or 20 in over half of the events we played which is a testament to his game and consistency. His high finishes are also impressive when you think about our schedule and how competitive it was every event."

Hearn recorded a pair of top-10 finishes and three more top-20 finishes. He fired a low round of 69 and a tournament-best 3-under (210) and recorded eight rounds under par. Hearn finished tied for third at The Clerico, tied for 11th at the Tempest Collegiate, and tied for 15th at the Hal Williams Collegiate and Craft Farms Intercollegiate. He shot under 70 four times this season.
