MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama women's tennis closes out their regular season slate this weekend, traveling to Louisiana Saturday and then going north to Georgia State for a rescheduled match with the Panthers on Sunday. Both matches will start at 10 a.m.
South closed out their home schedule last weekend, beating Southern Miss 5-2 to improve to 15-5 on the season and 5-4 in conference action.
The Jaguars got four singles wins in the match against the Eagles, after also winning the doubles point with wins from the duos of
Luminita Tutunaru/
Tereza Dejnozkova and
Nikola Novotna/
Elysia Pool.
Senior
Luminita Tutunaru now has 14 wins on the year, leading the Jaguar squad. Freshmen
Tereza Dejnozkova,
Chems Doha Zeghlouli and sophomore
Elysia Pool all have 12 wins on the year.
Louisiana is 6-10 on the year, with a 3-7 conference record. The Ragin Cajuns have lost their last two matches, falling to Troy and Coastal Carolina.
Georgia State is 2-16 on the year, with a 2-7 record in conference play. The Panthers went 1-1 last weekend, falling to ULM but beating Arkansas State.
South Alabama is 36-5 all-time against the Ragin Cajuns, with the last loss coming in 2011 in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
The Jaguars are 18-7 all-time against Georgia State and currently hold a four-match winning streak against the Panthers.
