MOBILE, Ala. – The South Alabama women's tennis team hits the road this weekend for a conference road matchup at Arkansas State, Saturday at 10 a.m. in Jonesboro, Ark.
South is 11-1 and 1-0 in the conference play this season and swept Troy 7-0 in the conference opener last weekend. South's Sunday match against Georgia State was postponed due to weather and will be made up April 23.
The Jags posted a 10-1 record in conference play last season, dropping their only match to UTA on the road. The Jags were 5-0 at home in conference play last season. South went on to win the Sun Belt Conference Tournament title in Peachtree City, Ga., the 19
th title in program history.
Arkansas State is 1-7 on the season and opened Sun Belt Conference play with two losses, dropping matches at Appalachian State and Marshall.
South's last match saw no losses, as South won the doubles point and swept the Trojans in singles. Senior
Luminita Tutunaru earned her 10
th singles win of the season and is 10-1 on the year. Freshman
Tereza Dejnozkova is -1 on the season and
Otoha Aoki is 6-0 on the year.
The Jags are 15-1 all-time against Arkansas State, with the lone loss coming in 2010. South currently holds a three-match win streak against the Red Wolves of Arkansas State. South is also perfect in Jonesboro.
