MOBILE, Ala. - South Alabama (18-6, 9-3) travels to Conway, S.C. for their final road challenge of the season. The Jaguars face Coastal Carolina (17-7, 12-0) on Nov. 3 at 5 p.m. and Nov. 4 at 12 p.m. The last time the Jags were in South Carolina, they swept the Clemson Invitational against Clemson, Green Bay, and Western Carolina.
TEAM INFO
-The Jaguars have hung their hat on defense all season long. They rank top of the conference and top-15 nationally in digs/set and are first in the conference and 11th nationally in opp. hitting percentage with .154.
- Maddie Soboleski and Hannah Maddux make up a powerhouse offensive duo, with Maddux currently fourth in the conference (3.82) in kills/set, and Soboleski sitting at eighth (3.57). Both are also in the top 100 in the nation.
- Maddux is one of the most skilled servers in the entire nation. Her .56 aces/set is currently 12th in the nation.
- Kailey Keeble continues to be one of the country's premier Setters, leading the team assists/set ranking 13th in the country in individual assists/set.
- Niki Capizzi fourth in the SBC in blocks/set with 1.14. She has 85 total on the season and is just the eighth player in South Alabama history to reach 300 career blocks.
- Paige Lynn has been a defensive constant for South, landing fourth in the conference in digs/set (4.49) and second in total digs (369).
OPPONENT
Coastal will return to Conway to host their final home series of the season in their first cross-divisional matchup of the season. The Chanticleers boast a perfect 12-0 conference record matching their 12 game win streak. At home CCU is 8-2 on the season. Coastal holds the all-time matchup between the two at 12-5. USA is on a four match win streak dating back to 2021. The last time the Jaguars visited Conway South lost 3-1 in 2021. The Jaguars have a 4-1 record against Coastal Carolina under Coach Ortiz.
Redshirt Senior Jasmine Rivest is the center of the majority of the offensive production for the Chanticleers. Rivest averages 5.00 kills per set in conference play, the highest in the conference. Rivest is also among the top servers in the Sun Belt, sitting fourth in aces per set. Defensively, Freshman Libero Sydney Lewis leads the team in digs, followed by Freshman Jalyn Stout and Rivest. CCU isn't prolific in blocking as a team, but the duo of Redshirt Sophomore Valentina Varani and Junior Dilara Ulna both have over 80 blocks each on the year.
