All-Time Series
• Friday's contest with Houston will mark the first-ever meeting between the Jaguars and Cougars.
• South Alabama owns a 2-1 all-time lead over Kennesaw State in a series that dates back to 2007. KSU swept the Jags in the last meeting between the schools in Mobile, Ala., on Aug. 28, 2010.
• Mississippi State owns a 9-5 all-time lead over USA in a series that began in 1982. The Bulldogs won last year's matchup in Starkville 3-1. Prior to last year's win, the Jags had swept MSU in consecutive matches in 2014 and 2018.

Jag Notes
• Kailey Keeble was named the Sun Belt Conference Setter of the Week on Tuesday after totaling 141 assists, 50 digs, one service ace, five block-assists and one solo block in three matches last weekend at the SFA Invitational in Nacogdoches, Texas.
• Keeble recorded double-doubles in all three matches at the SFA Invitational, and has posted a double-double in five consecutive contests entering the tournament. Keeble has 24 career double-doubles entering the weekend, which ranks tied for sixth all-time at South Alabama. 
• Outside hitter Maddie Soboleski recorded two double-doubles in three matches last weekend at the SFA Invitational, which included 17 kills and a season-high 19 digs against McNeese State. Soboleski has 19 career double-doubles, which ranks tied for 11th at USA.
• South Alabama leads the Sun Belt Conference in assists per set (12.35), kills per set (13.30) and digs per set (17.74) entering the weekend. Nationally, the Jags rank fourth in team attacks per set (39.30), 11th in digs per set and 23rd in team digs.
• Middle blocker Niki Capizzi leads the SBC in hitting percentage (.442), which ranks 20th nationally. 
• Keeble leads the SBC in assists (248), which ranks ninth nationally, and assists per set (10.78), which ranks 19th in the country, and also ranks seventh in the league in digs (95) and tied for ninth in digs per set (4.13).
• Soboleski ranks third in the SBC in total points (107), and fourth in average points per set (4.65). She ranks 10th nationally in attacks per set (12.78), and 14th in total attacks (294).
• Libero Rachel Hickey enters the weekend with 986 career digs at South Alabama, and needs just 14 more to reach 1,000 in her Jaguar career. She ranks fourth in the conference in digs per set (4.26), and sixth in total digs (98).
• Capizzi was named the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, and Hickey was voted the 2022 SBC Preseason Libero of the Year.
• Capizzi, Soboleski and Keeble were each named 2022 Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference.
• The Jaguars were picked to win the 2022 Sun Belt Conference West Division in a preseason poll voted on by the league's head coaches. USA received eight of 14 first-place votes.
• South Alabama clinched the program's first-ever Sun Belt Conference overall regular-season championship last season with a 15-1 league record, and won the program's first-ever SBC Tournament championship to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA postseason.
• USA set a new program record for SBC wins (15) in a season in 2021, and its 25 overall wins were the most by a Jaguar team since the 1987 squad won 26 matches. The Jags' 25 wins ranked as the third-most in a single season at USA.
