MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama football scored 14 points in the first four minutes of each half on its way to a 38-14 victory over Louisiana Tech Saturday evening at Hancock Whitney Stadium.
With the Jaguars (3-1) holding a one-score advantage midway through the second quarter, the defense took control forcing Louisiana Tech (1-3) to turn the ball over four-straight possessions – the final two of the period and the first two coming out of the locker room.
Defensive lineman
Jamie Sheriff and linebacker
Trey Kiser each recorded five tackles and a sack, while Sheriff was also credited with a forced a fumble to lead the defense.
Yam Banks' lone tackle was for a loss, while the sophomore also had two of the unit's four interceptions, and three of its seven pass break ups.
Jag quarterback
Carter Bradley completed 14 of his 21 pass attempts for 178 yards and threw three touchdowns.
La'Damian Webb rushed for 75 yards on 14 attempts, while
Braylon McReynolds had 51 yards on seven attempts to pace the ground game.
McReynolds also had a team-high 115 all-purpose yards, adding 24 yards receiving and 40 return yards, while Webb also eclipsed the 100-yard mark of total offense, finishing with 103 yards. Wide receiver
Caullin Lacy had a receiving touchdown and a punt return for a touchdown to go along with his 97 all-purpose yards.

- The six-play, 80-yard touchdown drive to open the game marked the first time this fall that the Jags have scored on their on opening drive
- The three-yard touchdown reception by Lincoln Sefcik was the first of the season for the Jaguar tight end and the sixth of his career
- Lacy's punt return touchdown (57) was the second-longest punt return for a touchdown in program history
- It was just the third punt return for a touchdown in program history and the first since Tra Minter's 75-yard touchdown return versus Alabama State (10/13/18)
- Darrell Luter Jr., (15) now ranks fifth all-time at South Alabama in pass break ups
- McReynolds, who entered the game with 28 yards rushing through the first three games of his Jag career, set a new season high with 51 yards on the ground versus the Bulldogs
- With his 24-yard touchdown reception to open the fourth quarter, Webb has now scored – five rushing and one receiving – in four-straight games, tying Jalen Tolbert (10/9-30/21) for sixth in the category
- Diego Guajardo was 5-for-5 in his extra-point attempts and connected on his only field goal to move him into fourth on South Alabama's scoring list as he now has 172 points for his career
- South recorded four interceptions versus Louisiana Tech, after recording just one through the first three games
- Three of the four came during the first 30 minutes of action
- The four interceptions tied a single-game program mark, which was done three other times with the last coming versus Arkansas State (11/11/17)
- The interceptions by Banks, CJ Thompson and Ke'shun Brown were the first of their career
- The two-interception game by Banks was the first since Luter had a pair last season against Arkansas State (10/30)
- The interception returned for a touchdown by Banks was the first by a Jag defender since Davyn Flenord's 48-yard return for a score against Southern Miss (9/4/01)
- Lacy hadn't scored a touchdown in his first 25 games and now has crossed the goal line three times in the last two games
- South Alabama has had a player record multiple touchdowns in each of the first four games: Webb (Nicholls and at Central Michigan), Marco Lee (at UCLA), Lacy (Louisiana Tech)
- The Jags recorded 13 points off turnovers and were 3-for-4 in their red zone attempts
