• Ole Miss owns a 6-3 all-time lead over South Alabama in a series that dates back to Sept. 23, 1977. The schools split a pair of matches on Sept. 16, 2017, in Oxford, Miss., which marked the last meeting in the series. The Jags won the first match in five sets before the Rebels took the second match in four sets.
• USA owns a 14-0 all-time lead over Florida A&M in a series that began on Oct. 18, 1984. The Jags swept the Rattlers last season, which marked the last meeting in the series.
• Saturday's contest against Eastern Kentucky will mark the first-ever meeting between the schools.
Jag Notes
• South Alabama carries a 13-game home win streak, which dates back to Oct. 22, 2020, into Thursday's home opener against Ole Miss. The Jags last dropped a home match on Oct. 16, 2020, when they fell in four sets to Coastal Carolina. USA went 10-0 in Jaguar Gym last year.
• South Alabama enters the tournament on a three-game losing skid, which marks the longest losing streak under head coach
Jesse Ortiz.
• The Jaguars rank third nationally in team attacks per set (39.82) and digs per set (17.24), both of which lead the Sun Belt Conference. USA ranks 23rd in the country in total team attacks (1,354) and 26th in total digs (586), each of which ranks second in the SBC.
•
Kailey Keeble was named the Sun Belt Conference Setter of the Week on Sept. 6 after totaling 141 assists, 50 digs, one service ace, five block-assists and one solo block in three matches at the SFA Invitational in Nacogdoches, Texas. It marked the third time in her career she has received the honor after earning the award twice last season.
• Keeble recorded double-doubles in two of three matches last weekend at the Maroon and White Invite in Starkville, Miss., to bring her season total to seven. Keeble has 26 career double-doubles entering the weekend, which ranks fourth all-time at South Alabama.
• Outside hitter
Maddie Soboleski recorded a double-double against Houston, which included a season-high 22 kills, to open last weekend's Maroon and White Invite. It marked her fourth double-double of the season, and the 20th of her career.
• Soboleski ranks seventh nationally in attacks per set (12.82), and eighth in total attacks (436), each of which ranks second in the SBC. She ranks third in the league in kills per set (3.94), total points (151.5) and average points per set (4.46), and fourth in total kills (134).
