EL DORADO, Ark. – The University of South Alabama men's golf's Jacob LeCroy earned a top-5 finish as the Jags placed eighth after three rounds of play at the Sun Belt Conference Championship Tuesday. 

The first two rounds of the Sun Belt Championship were played on Sunday due to forecasted inclement weather that moved into the El Dorado area on Monday. The Jags finished the first round in eighth place after recording a round score of 309. Eli Mitchell carded seven straight pars while making the turn in the opening round. USA climbed to seventh after the second round, where Jordan Plunkett notched an eagle on the 18th hole. The Jaguars ended the third round in eighth place with a team score of 305.

LeCroy finished tied for third place in the stroke play section of the conference tournament after recording a 4-under-par 69 score in the second round.

TEE SHOTS
- LeCroy finished tied for second in total birdies (10) during the event.
- LeCroy also tied for third in par 5 scoring with a one-under stroke average of 4.92.
- Plunkett was one of six players to record an eagle at the tournament. 
- Lorentzen was seventh in pars at the championship, recording 32 total.

On the event: "It is a very demanding and difficult course.  There is no let up from the first tee to the last hole.  The guys battled today and were inside the line with nine holes to play, but unfortunately had some numbers coming in which ultimately knocked us out. It's unfortunate and disappointing because of what we wanted to accomplish this year, but this one tournament doesn't take away from an otherwise very solid season as a team."

On LeCroy's performance: "We couldn't be happier and prouder of Jacob's play at the Championship.  He has worked really hard this year and continued to build on his game.  Having the only round in the 60's for the event is a testament to his talent and ability.  He has two years left and we're excited for him and his future."
