MOBILE, Ala. - The University of South Alabama women's golf team will compete in the Sun Belt Conference Championship April 17-19 at LPGA International Hills Course in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The Jaguar lineup will consist of Siti Shaari, Malia Uyeshiro, Julie Hovland, Belinda May and Carlota Garcia. South Alabama enters the championship having won two tournaments this season:Â Tchefuncta Invitational (Feb. 21-22) and the Bama Beach Bash (March 20-22). Shaari has won tournament win individually, while Uyeshiro, Hovland, May and Garcia have each earned at least one top-five finish this season.
USA enters the championship with a 296.83 team stroke average and 74.21 individual stroke average. The Jags' lowest team round of 283 came in the final round of the Lady Red Wolves Classic in Jonesboro, Ark., Oct. 11-12. South Alabama earned two runner-up finishes in the fall before winning a pair of spring events.Â
Shaari carries the team's lowest stroke average into the championship at 72.91. She has earned seven top-10 finishes and one top-20 finish this season. Uyeshiro holds the distinction of shooting the lowest round among the Jags with a 6-under par 66, which came in the final round of the Lady Red Wolves Classic.
