LAFAYETTE, La. – In its first conference match of the season the University of South Alabama women's tennis team defeated Louisiana 4-1 at the Cajun Courts on Saturday.  

The Jags earned the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. The team went on the clinch the win with three singles victories on courts one, five and six. South Alabama fell on court three in straight sets and left the remaining courts unfinished.

- With it's eleventh straight win over Louisiana, South has now reached 10 wins for the season. 
- Kohoutova and Tutunaru have now won 15 matches as a doubles pair dating back to their seven wins in the fall. 
- Van der Merwe earned her tenth singles win as a Jag. 
- Her singles victory as well as Kleinhans' were won in straight sets.

- On today's performance: "We had a good 'grind-it-out' win in some extremely windy and cold conditions. It was not our best tennis but I am proud of how professionally the girls conducted themselves. These are the little battles we have to win over the course of the season in order to be ready when it counts most."
