Opening Tip
- The last time the Jags defeated Troy on the road was a 75-71 victory on Jan. 26, 2016 giving South a five-game losing streak in Trojan Arena.
- South Alabama's last win over the Trojans came in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament at the conclusion of the 2019 season when the Jags won 87-74 in overtime. 
- Troy is just one of three Sun Belt teams to earn a win over a power five opponent this season with its 73-66 win over Mississippi State in December. 
-  The Trojan squad is the national leader in rebounds with 1,126 and free throws with 409 for the season respectively. They also rank in the top 10 for blocked shots as well as offensive and defensive rebounds. 
- For the Jags, Jaylin Powell has recorded double figures in three consecutive games, leading the Jags in scoring on two of those occasions. 
Last time with Troy 
-The Jags were credited with a season-best nine blocked shots, with Antoinette Lewis and Jadona Davis contributing three apiece.
-USA connected on a season-best 80 percent at the foul line, including going 12-of-12 at the stripe in the second quarter.
-It was the third time in the last four outings that Savannah Jones recorded 20-plus points.
-The redshirt senior had two double-doubles in 102 career appearances entering the season, but has now accomplished the feat twice during the 2020-21 campaign.
-Jaylen Mallard's double-double was the first of her career as she ended the contest with a career-high rebounding total.
-It was the first occasion since Jones and Lewis accomplished the feat in a win over Arkansas State in the opening round of the Sun Belt Tournament on March 10, 2020 that two Jags have posted a double-double in the same game.
-Devyn Lowe reached double figures in the scoring column for the first time since USA's Jan. 16 contest at Appalachian State.
-Lewis moved into sole possession of second place on South's all-time blocks list with 213 in her career.
-It was the 10th time this season that Mahogany Vaught led the Jags in assists after she handed out four on the day.
Notes from Georgia Southern
- Georgia Southern has now won three consecutive games over South Alabama to give the Eagles its longest streak of the series.
- South was able to score 26 points from the bench, its highest figure against a conference opponent this season, compared to Georgia Southern's 11.
- The Jags had just 10 turnovers, tying its second lowest number of the season which was last set against Auburn-Montgomery on Nov. 15, 2021.
- For the seventh time this season South had less than 30 rebounds for the game. 
- It is also the third straight game the team has shot less than 40 percent from the field, a feat that has happened twice before this season.
- The contest marked the first since the record-tying game against Faulkner on Dec. 14 that South has recorded more than 10 three-point field goals.
- USA recorded its lowest number of free throws (8) since the start of conference play.
- Kiana Anderson was responsible for half of her team's free throws as she was perfect from the line, going 4-for-4, giving her the most free throws of her career.
- The game also marks the third straight game Anderson has led the team in blocks with a total of two.
