MOBILE, Ala. – After shooting even in the first round and 3-under par in the final round, Mathias Lorentzen led the University of South Alabama men's golf team in the first tournament of the spring season with the conclusion of the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate Tuesday at the Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course.
Lorentzen earned his first top-20 finish of the season while setting both round (69) and tournament (214) season-lows. The Jaguars recorded their lowest round in the final round with a 292.

TEE SHOTS
- The event marked the 15th consecutive season that the Jaguars have hosted the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate.
- Lorentzen finished in the top 20 for the first time this season.
- Lorentzen also recorded a season-low 3-under par 69, and also posted his lowest three-round score at 214.
- Mitchell tied his season low in round two with a 2-under par 70.
- Skipp tied his season low with a 1-under par 71 in the final round.
- Lorentzen finished tied for second in par 3 scoring with a 2-under par average of 2.83 strokes. Skipp played par 3s at an average of 1-under par and 2.92 strokes.
- Atkinson played par 5s at 7-under par with an average of 4.42 strokes.
- Mitchell played par 5s at 6-under par for the tournament, and Lorentzen played par 5s at 5-under par
- Lorentzen carded 13 birdies in the tournament to lead the Jags
- Atkinson and Mitchell each carded an eagle in the event.
- The Jags carded their lowest round of the tournament in Tuesday's final round with a 292.

On the event: "All eight student-athletes played and had spurts of brilliance. Unfortunately, we had to count some big numbers each day and really could never get anything going, which was really the difference."
On Mathias Lorentzen: "Mathias played great, he's worked very hard over the off season, spent a lot of time on his golf swing and it is nice to see his hard work pay off. Shooting 69 in the final round should give him some very good confidence and [we're] very excited about his play moving forward."
