MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama women's basketball team dropped their second game of the season against the New Orleans Privateers Monday night in Lakeshore Arena.
The Jags trailed by just three with under three minutes to go, but the Jags could not stop the Privateer's momentum, leading to a 63-71 loss.
Graduate student
Casey Ferguson scored 13 points off the bench and
Kiana Anderson totaled 14 points and four rebounds. Freshman
Kelsey Thompson recorded nine rebounds.
The Privateers had two players in double figures, with senior DeArcia Pryor scoring 29 points.
The Jags return home to the Mitchell Center for the start of a three-game home stand, to face Tulane Thursday at 7 p.m.

- UNO jumped out to an early 10-4 lead with five minutes left in the first quarter after six Jag turnovers.
- The Privateers extended their lead to 16-8 to end the first quarter
- The Jags went on a 9-2 run to cut the UNO lead to just three with under six to go in the half.

Head Coach Terry Fowler:
"This is a disappointing loss tonight. We dug ourselves a hole early and fought to get back into the game at the half, we just missed too many shots at the rim and too many clutch free throws. We turned the ball over early and they scored too many points off our turnovers. I am proud our kids fought back, but it's not enough. We came here to win on the road, and we let it get away. We've got to do better and fight harder."
